Sierra Nevada Porter - Full Mash - 23L
First off, the disclaimer, I certainly did not invent this recipe - I got it from another board and wanted to share with the folks in my hood
I'm on my 10th batch of full mash and this recipe is my favourite so far. Absolutely delicious. My favourite beer when I used to brew at West Coast U-Brew was Rooster and this recipe for Sierra Nevada Porter is very similar to West Coast U-Brew's Rooster beer. What I love about this beer is that there aren't any flavour adjunts - no spices, no vanilla, no espresso, none of that stuff. Just the rich flavours of the malts themselves.
Delicious. Definite caramel and coffee notes. Smooth, subtly hoppy and rich in malty goodness.
11lbs 2-row pale malt
.5lbs crystal malt
.5lbs chocolate malt
.25lbs black patent malt
.5 oz Kent Goldings (boil 60min)
.75oz Willamette (boil 20min)
Nottingham Dry Yeast
Bottle conditioned with 7oz White Honey
Should hit 1.051 (~6%abv).
If you try it, let me know what you think.
